What should the best managers always say?

What separates the best project managers from the rest? In many cases, it can be something as simple as the way in which they interact with their team members.

A recent article on Inc.com emphasizes the importance of using specific phrases when speaking with your team members.

What are some of those key phrases? "We can do better" is one. Sometimes, projects fail, or employees do not perform as well as managers expect them to. It is important not to sugarcoat a failure, but rather acknowledge it so that employees can learn from their mistakes and grow.

"I trust you" is another important phrase. No leader can claim to have confidence in their overall operation unless their team is stocked with people whom they trust. It is crucial that managers remember to say this out loud, so team members know they are supported, even when they are about to try something unorthodox.

Before they speak, the best leaders always listen first, which is why the phrase "tell me more" should be uttered constantly at meetings. Managers need to have a deep knowledge of what's really going on with a project, which only their team members provide.
